St. Monica Catholic School Advisory Council Application

The St. Monica School Advisory Council (SAC) is accepting applications for the upcoming school year. New SAC Members will serve a three-year term starting in June 2021. Applicants are not required to have a student currently enrolled at SMS. If you are interested in serving the St. Monica Community as part of the School Advisory Council, please complete an application. All applications are due by Monday, March 1, 2021.

SMS Mission Statement

To develop a life-long passion for learning and foster in each child their fullest spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social growth within the teachings of the Catholic Church.

School Advisory Council Purpose

St Monica SAC works with the Pastor and President to 1) provide support to school leadership and the Pastor, 2) communicate to and with the school community, 3) monitor and advise on the strategic direction of the school, 4) collect information from the school community, and 5) provide supportive data analysis and assessment at the discretion of the Pastor and school leadership.

Expectations
- Serve for a three-year term
- Uphold the SMS SAC Constitution and fulfill its mission
- Model responsible school governance and leadership and adhere to the Advisory Council’s code of conduct
- Sign confidentiality statement
- Attend annual planning retreat in July and monthly meetings August-May
- Review and recommend approval of the annual school budget, advise on the school’s Mission, and work with school leadership on the five Benchmarks of a Successful Catholic School – Academics, Catholic Identity, Community Vitality, Finances, and Facilities
- Be prepared to actively participate and share opinions when relevant for each meeting, having read minutes and reports
- Serve as liaison between the parents, SAC, and Administration
- Recruit and encourage parent involvement on SAC sub-committees
- Schedule regular meetings with sub-committees independent of monthly council meetings
- Think strategically
- Support SMS with a financial gift that is meaningful to you

- Thank you again for your interest in the Advisory Council and for your on-going support of St. Monica School. Candidate interviews will take place in March. The School Advisory Council Nominating Committee, comprised of five members from the Council, will present their recommended three new members to the entire Council for a vote and then to Father Guadagnoli and Mrs. Trudell for final approval in May.
