St. Monica 3rd Grader Grace M.’s Dream Came True – She Met Mary Pope Osborne Face-To-Face
The Barbara Bush Foundation hosted an essay contest open to all students in grades 2 – 5 from Dallas/Fort Worth area schools in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise counties.
The essay topic focused on the following prompt: The Magic Tree House books are filled with tales of Osborne’s characters, Jack and Annie. The siblings discover a magical, book-filled tree house that takes them on amazing journeys and historical adventures. Students were asked to write an essay in which they imagine what it would be like to discover their own magic tree house. Where and when would it take them? Who would they meet and what kind of adventures would they have? The essays were to be no longer than 500 words.
I am also attaching a link to the twitter feed and picture of the local winners from the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. Grace M., 3rd Grader from St. Monica was one of the winners. Leisl said it was an amazing experience. Grace was lazer focused on the writing essay, determined to do her best and win. Her favorite books to read are The Magic Tree House books. Dr. Matthew Vereecke, Superintendent of the Diocese of Dallas was there to congratulate Grace in person. https://twitter.com/BarbaraBushFdn?lang=en
