2008 SMS Graduate Laura Buckley has been named a Fulbright Scholar!
Currently, Laura is wrapping up her second (and final) year with Teach for America, and next month she will also receive her MA in Education from SMU. [click here to see Laura’s SMU profile]
Laura will live Paris, France where she will teach and continue to research models of bi-lingual education that focus on the integration of immigrant children in public schools.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in over 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students.
In 1945, Senator J. William Fulbright introduced a bill in the United States Congress that called for the ‘promotion of international good will through the exchange of students in the fields of education, culture, and science.
Educational exchange can turn nations into people, contributing as no other form of communication can to the humanizing of international relations.
