Many may not know all that our Volunteer of the Year has done over the years that they have served the St.Monica community. We are delighted to honor Allison Elko as the first-ever Cecilia Martin PTO Volunteer of the Year Award recipient for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Elko family has been at St. Monica for 10 years, and during that time, Allison has had a hand in nearly every PTO committee and beyond, and is always willing to help. A humble community member, she has evolved many of PTO’s functions into organized, well-oiled machines.
When chairing our Volunteer Appreciation committee, she revamped it to be what it is today – so this is a full-circle moment! She also effectively changed the Cake Walk at Autumnfestto be bigger and better, and even secured the walk’s first company sponsor, Nothing Bundt Cakes. She also served at various times as a Grandparents’ Day volunteer, a grade level representative, and homeroom parent, and lead the décorfor the middle school mixers, which is not a small undertaking!
Beyond the PTO, she has chaired Vacation Bible School and served Dads’ Club Gala duties over the years, from hosting a sponsorship party to leading décor. Allison is also deeply involved in the Cub Scouts and Scouts, including chairing popcorn sales and the end of the year banquet.
And to top it off, she has even helped with mother/daughter teas – though she has two boys of her own! –simply because she likes to help with anything that serves the children of St.Monica School.
We are proud to give the first Cecilia Martin PTO Volunteer of the Year Award to Allison Elko for living and leading with a servant's heart and being a fervent example of the PTO’spurpose for St. Monica Catholic School.
